Following a reorganization, a new Video Creation Tools team had no clear charter and overlapped with another team responsible for creative assets, creating confusion about ownership between the two.
No one owned solving the problem, so I volunteered to create strategic alignment before roadmap planning stalled. I designed and facilitated cross-functional workshops with product, engineering, design, research, marketing, and data science, then synthesized the input into a customer-centered mission, vision, values, principles, and ownership boundaries — advocating for customer-first language over internal, business-centric framing.
Ownership confusion after a reorg doesn't resolve itself. Someone has to force the room to agree on boundaries, in writing, before planning starts — otherwise the same ambiguity just gets rediscovered every sprint.
